We offer information on site assessments, wind requirements and we also have examples of the installations we have completed. Once you have absorbed this information, then

the next step is 'Buying a turbine',where we give more detailed help on the process of choosing and buying a turbine.

What are Feed in Tariffs?

All turbines installed on or after the 15 July 2009 will qualify for Feed in Tariff (FiT). The FiT will allow the Government to set higher rates for electricity generated from renewable sources. The Utility companies will be made to purchase renewable energy at a fixed price for 20 years, so all the installations will become very cost effective for their owners.   FiT is a subsidy to encourage the growth of renewable energy, it is a fixed payment made to owners of turbines for the electricity they export to the grid.     The higher rates of the tariff will apply to systems installed from October 2009 until 2035 with the amount offered to new installations reducing by a fixed percentage each year. Reduction of tariff values will not begin until 2012. Systems installed before that date will be offered a rate of 9p per kWh generated.   The tariff is paid by the utility companies and is free from income tax.   Table of pricing ratios; various wind turbine output in KW.      Source                                  kw out-put                                                pence       yrs Wind =1.5kW 34.5 20 Wind >1.5 - 15kW 26.7 20 Wind >15 - 100kW 24.1 20 Wind                  >100 - 500kW 18.8 20 Wind >500kW - 1.5MW 9.4 20 Wind >1.5MW - 5MW 4.5 20 Price is in pence per KWH produced.         As promised the UK Government is to increase the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) rates in line with the retail price index. As of 1st April 2011 the Feed-in Tariff for Wind Turbine systems will increase in line with inflation (4.8% increase). This means that for a Gaia 133 Turbine the rate will increase from 26.7p/kWh to 28.0p/kWh. At an annual mean wind speed (AMWS) of 6.5m/s this would increase the FiT from £160,200 to £168,000 over the 20 yrs of the FiT on top of the electricity you will save and the export tariff you will receive.
