We offer information on site assessments, wind requirements and we also have examples of the installations we have completed. Once you have absorbed this information, then

the next step is 'Buying a turbine',where we give more detailed help on the process of choosing and buying a turbine.

Do I need Planning Permission?

Yes – ALL wind turbines require planning permission, this can be done by yourself or we can arrange all of the planning application process.

The planning process is becoming easier as the Government has made a commitment to ensure councils grant applications, unless there is a genuine reason for the refusal to be made. You can access all the necessary documentation and regulations by going to your relevant council website. Planning is the all important step, as without planning permission you cannot install a wind turbine. Dorrell Renewables Ltd will provide a planning support document if you choose to prepare the planning application yourself.

We can also arrange for a complete planning service on your behalf by an experienced Chartered Surveyor. For further details of our planning service please contact Dorrell Renewables Ltd. The planners will look at many aspects of your proposed installation that are mentioned in this FAQs section, including proximity to neighbours, visibility, noise and possible effects on birds and bats. Thankfully planning permission is becoming easier, even in AONBs and SSSIs as the government has made commitments to ensure that councils give permission, unless there are credible objections rather than ‘not in my back yard’ complaints.

The UK's Planning Portal's interactive house provides an overview of planning permission and building regulations for householders.
